Our business began 40 years ago, with my father, Jay Matthews.  He started up a paint store, where he won many trips to various destinations for the most sales in our area.  Due to his success at selling the paint, he decided to create a business of using the paint while painting houses and business in the area.  Thus, began Jay's Painting and Decorating.

 

My father's business mindset was something similar to Bailey's Building and Loan (from the Movie, It's a Wonderful Life).  He wanted to do an exceptional  job for the people in his community at a reasonable price.  He felt that fixing up people's homes made them feel better and the community look better.

 

The business became a family business with Jay's sons using their various skills on different jobs.  Over the years, grandchildren have also joined the team.

 

Recently, my father's health began to fail, and I took on the great honor and responsibility of using his knowledge and reputation to turn the business into something of my own. 

 

Our business has expanded by working with others within our community, to collaboratively making and creating an aesthetially pleasing appearance to the historical city of Franklin, and surrounding areas.

 

Our goal is still to provide exceptional services at a reasonable price, with a very friendly and profressional relationship with our customers.
